INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

Investment Management Philosophy

An old adage states that there is accomplishment through many advisors. We agree and embrace a variety of investment perspectives through our investment strategy committee. Our investment Philosophy is well grounded in global macro-economic analysis. Investment ideas are carefully vetted through a process which incorporates the diverse range of investment backgrounds within our firm. This process of multi-faceted analysis ensures that only the strongest investment ideas survive. We are committed to striking the right balance between risk and return through managing global, multi-asset class investment portfolios.

INDEPENDENCE & CLIENT FOCUS

The only compensation we receive is from our clients, this way we avoid any conflicts of interest since they could impair our investing. We at Wagner Financial work to ensure that our clients understand their asset allocation, the composition of holdings, portfolio performance and related expenses at all times.

PERFORMANCE WITH LIQUIDITY

We aim to generate exceptional performance through asset allocation without sacrificing liquidity. Although we invest with a long time horizon, we do not invest in illiquid securities. We focus on always being flexible and able to provide our clients with liquidity.

TOP-DOWN, THEMATIC APPROACH

Wagner Financial will work to invest in undervalued asset classes and avoid overvalued asset classes. We are not locked into rigid allocations. Quite often contrarian, we are willing to commit to unpopular, undervalued investments if we believe their fundamental value will be confirmed over the long-term. We are committed to providing superior long-term returns managing balanced global, multi-asset class investment portfolios.

DIVERSIFICATION

We never lose sight of the benefits of risk mitigation through diversification. Although making significant investments in our best ideas is crucial for generating returns, we always have maintained a diverse allocation among many asset classes.

VARIED INVESTMENT PERSPECTIVES

We benefit from a structured interaction among the members of the Investment Committee. Investment ideas are carefully vetted through a process which incorporates the diverse range of investment backgrounds and philosophies within our firm. This process of rigorous debate and multi-faceted analysis ensures that only the strongest investment ideas survive.

OPTIMIZATION OF EXPENSES AND TAXES

We try our utmost to identify and optimize the expenses incurred in managing and administering client portfolios. We also focus on minimizing negative tax impacts for taxable client portfolios.

Investment Management Process

The complex, ever-changing investment world of today requires an investment process that is overseen by a team of experienced investment professionals. Global capital markets present investors with a host of challenges due to the combination of an overwhelming amount of information to analyze and the endless supply of conflicting opinions from academia and financial media outlets. The time and expertise required to perform in-depth investment research and to make timely and informed portfolio management decisions requires both a clear investment process and an experienced investment team to implement the process.

CLIENT INVESTMENT PLANNING

Wagner Financial evaluates each client’s investment objectives and risk tolerance to establish specific investment guidelines. We strive to take into account the client’s total portfolio, not just the assets we manage.

STRATEGIC ASSET ALLOCATION

Our Investment Committee combines a top-down macro framework with a rigorous analysis of sectors, industries, and geographies. Investment opportunities are identified across a wide range of asset classes and global markets.

PORTFOLIO CONSTRUCTION

We carefully construct portfolios utilizing the most appropriate investment vehicles to best take advantage of current market opportunities. While all portfolios are based on our Strategic Asset Allocation, Wagner Financial adheres to each client’s individual investment objectives and constraints.

PORTFOLIO MONITORING

We continuously monitor market and economic conditions and adjust portfolios to capitalize on new opportunities or to avoid undue risk. Any changes in underlying funds are investigated to ensure that the investment still meets its strategic goal and client objectives.

Investment Strategy Committee

The Investment Committee meets formally each quarter, and more frequently if market conditions warrant, to discuss the state of the global economy and capital markets and to assess the current asset allocation and positioning of each of our model portfolios. There’s an art to striking the right balance between risk and return, pursuing that symmetry is the core of our investment philosophy. We explore the relationship between the global economy and market dynamics to identify, isolate—and ultimately—balance sources of risk and return. We act as fiduciaries and have our interests aligned with our clients as we are also substantial co-investors.
